IWoMA Grants and Loans Readiness Program

We treat the root of the problem and not the symptoms

The WIM-Africa Grants and Loans Readiness Program is a comprehensive initiative designed to empower women miners in Africa by enhancing their financial literacy, entrepreneurial skills, and access to funding opportunities. Through this program, participants receive targeted training, mentorship, and support to build their capacity to effectively manage grants and loans, thereby enabling them to grow their businesses and improve their livelihoods.

Key components of the program include financial education workshops, business development training, mentorship sessions, and networking opportunities with financial institutions and industry experts. Participants also learn about the various types of funding available, how to prepare strong grant and loan applications and strategies for successful fundraising.

By equipping women miners with the necessary knowledge and skills to navigate the financial landscape, the Grants and Loans Readiness Program aims to break down barriers to access to finance and unlock the full potential of women miners in Africa. Ultimately, the program seeks to promote economic empowerment, gender equality, and sustainable development in mining communities across the continent.

Women Artisanal Miners Forum (WAMF)

The Women Artisanal Miners Forum (WAMF)

The Women Artisanal Miners Forum (WAMF) emerged as a response to the unique challenges faced by women engaged in artisanal mining activities globally. Artisanal mining, often characterized by informal and small-scale operations, plays a significant role in the mineral supply chain, particularly in resource-rich regions. However, women in this sector encounter various obstacles, including limited access to resources, lack of representation in decision-making processes, and insufficient support networks. Recognizing the need for collective action and advocacy, WAMF strives to empower women artisanal miners, enhance their socio-economic well-being, and promote sustainable practices within the industry.

Through the Grants Readiness Program, NGOs gain access to networking opportunities, partnerships, and resources to enhance their organizational capacity and sustainability. By strengthening the capabilities of NGOs, the program aims to amplify the impact of their work, improve the lives of women miners and their communities, and contribute to gender equality and sustainable development in rural mining areas.
